Finding My Voice in a New Language

I used to think language was simply a tool, something to help humans exchange information like merchants trading goods in a market. But that was before I fell in love with a language that was not my own. Before English entered my life, my world felt just the right size. It had familiar streets, familiar voices, and familiar words that wrapped me like a warm blanket.
